Yasin Malik’s wife seeks APC on Kashmir issue

LAHORE: Mushaal Malik, wife of renowned Kashmiri freedom fighter Muhammad Yaseen Malik, has demanded an all parties conference (APC) on Kashmir and immediate hospitalisation of Yaseen Malik because there are reports that he has become very frail and needs medical assistance. It is important to understand the urgency as he is facing great life threat, shestressed.

In a press conference held on Friday at Lahore Press Club, she apprised the media of the inhuman treatment being meted out to Yaseen Malik in Tihar Jail in India where he was being denied any medical treatment and was kept in a cage. Twenty-two compounds next to his cell are unoccupied, Mushaal said and demanded an end to his solitary confinement. Yasin was implicated in false cases, she said. She appealed to the people to take an initiative to raise voice against Indian atrocities in Indian-Held Kashmir. Yaseen is a champion of Kashmiris’ right to freedom and he is now living sheer on his willpower, she said. She said she talked to Yasin Malik a year ago. “He is the leader of Kashmiri freedom fighters, so saving him is important. It means saving the lifeline,” she said.

She said, “Concentration camps are operating in Kashmir where young men are undergoing third degree torture. Kashmir has been turned into a jungle. We raise voice when news arrives of bloodshed. Hindus are being settled in Kahshmir,” she said.

She said she was taking up the issue on all international forums and called upon the government to do the same – take advantage of erosion of India’s secular fabric. She called upon the people to join her movement in a peaceful manner.
