Islamabad: Minister of State for Education Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rahman on Tuesday expressed desire to work in collaboration with the Turkish Education Ministry, Turkish Religious Ministry and Religious Affairs Ministry of Pakistan in order to formulate a better policy regarding madrassa education.
In a meeting with Minister of State for Education Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rahman, Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan S. Babur Girgin proposed to establish madrassas in Pakistan based on the model of Imam Hatip (Khatib) Schools System in Turkey.
Imam Hatip (Khatib) Schools are playing a major role in improving education ratio in rural areas of Turkey. As many as 16.5 million students are being imparted education in such schools. The schools are imparting 60% worldly and 40% religious education. The schools are considered to be a perfect balance or blend of Islamic teachings and other subjects as well like biology, chemistry, physics, technology, politics and journalism.
