Pre-hospital emergency system in Balochistan discussed
LAHORE:Medical Emergency Response Centres (MERCs) of Balochistan Project Director Aziz Ahmed Jamali visited the Rescue Headquarters and Emergency Services Academy and met with Rescue 1122 Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer.
They discussed the way to launch an effective pre-hospital emergency management system in Balochistan. Aziz Ahmed Jamali also met with the under-training cadets of the second batch from Balochistan and said that this was an opportunity for all the under-training rescuers to get the maximum benefit from the professionals of Emergency Services Academy. He appreciated the support of the Punjab government of Punjab and Emergency Services Academy for the training of cadets from Balochistan to establish MERCs there.
He said the cadets after completion of training would provide emergency care in Quetta and one N-50 Northern Highways from March 2020.
Dr Rizwan Naseer appreciated the Balochistan chief minister’s initiative of launching MERCs for providing emergency care to the helpless victims of emergencies and disasters. He said that all possible support from Rescue Service Punjab would be extended for the expansion of the service in Balochistan.
‘Laparoscopy: A training workshop on the importance of laparoscopic treatment was conducted by the Department of Surgery of Lahore General Hospital.
Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI) and Lahore General Hospital Principal Prof Al-fareed Zafar said laparoscopy was an advanced procedure that helped patients get faster and modern treatment facilities. He said this treatment also reduced the patients’ sufferings.
the introduction of laparoscopic treatment in public hospitals after private institutions was a welcome step which also cost the common man less and increased comfort as well.
Senior surgeons and doctors from a number of hospitals participated in the event. Different aspects and practical training of laparoscopic treatment were highlighted in the workshop.
Expats cases: The steps taken by Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) are exemplary and over 4,500 cases were disposed of in 2019, said Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab Vice-Chairperson Chaudhry Waseem Akhtar.
According to a hand out, he said this during his meeting with a delegation in his office on Wednesday. He said his doors were open to the Pakistani expatriates.
