Several famous food points sealed for violations

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority on Tuesday sealed four food points and penalised two eateries along with issuing warning notices to five units over violation of the rules of PFA Act.

An operation against big food points in Lahore and its surrounding areas were conducted under the supervision of PFA Director General Irfan Memon. Irfan Memon said that PFA team raided Butt Karahi and sealed it over worst condition of hygiene and failure to take preventative measures to control pests. The team also shut down Pak Asia Desi Karahi for using loose spices, preserving food in stinky freezers and failing to meet hygienic working environment.

F famous food point, Fazal-e-Haq Dera, was closed down due to storing food in the washroom and poor cleanliness arrangements. A team of PFA also sealed Bashir Darul Mahi on account of mislabelling and over the presence of substandard food. Meanwhile, the director general said that PFA has issued fine tickets to Nadeem Buffet and TM Coffee over failure to produce medical certificates. The FIA served warning notices on five food joints i.e. Yousaf Falooda, Bundu Khan, Hot Spot Coffee, The Hungry Bare and Matam Makkah over minor violations and directed them to improve quality.

The PFA DG stated that positive change had been witnessed in the food industry due to consistent action and the establishment of PFA training school. UVAS: Agriculture Commissioner, Embassy of People’s Republic of China, Dr Gu Wenliang visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) and called on Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani here on Tuesday.

According to a press release, a detailed meeting of the Chinese delegation was also held with UVAS senior faculty members and agriculture stakeholders came from public private sector. Prof Dr Masood Rabbani along with Dr Gu Wenliang co-chaired the meeting and sought issues, suggestions, collaborative areas and technical inputs from stakeholders for uplift of livestock and agriculture sectors.

An open discussion was held in which all the participants put forward various suggestions for development of livestock and agriculture sector in Pakistan through enhanced collaboration with China.

Meanwhile, Livestock & Dairy Development Department Punjab Secretary Nadeem Irshad Kayani also paid a visit to the university. Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Livestock emphasised on develop international linkages with well-known institutions for the enhancing of research. He said Livestock Department and UVAS jointly organised professional development training programmes of field staff for their capacity building.

PU schedule: Punjab University (PU) Examinations Department has issued the schedule for submission of admission fee and forms for BCom Part-I and II, Annual Examinations 2020.

For regular candidates, the last date for submission of BCom Part-II Annual Examinations 2020 admission forms with single fee is 4-3-20 (by post) and 9-3-20 (by hand) while the forms can be submitted with double fee till 11-3-20 (by post) and 17-3-20 (by hand).

For late college candidates, the last date for submission of BCom Part-I and II, Annual Examinations 2020 admission forms with single fee is 4-3-20 (by post) and 9-3-20 (by hand) while the forms can be submitted with double fee till 11-3-20 (by post) and 17-3-20 (by hand).

For private candidates having compartment in Part-I & Part-II, the last date for submission of B.Com Part-I and II, Annual Examinations 2020 admission forms with single fee is 12-3-20 (by post) and 19-3-20 (by hand) while the forms can be submitted with double fee till 19-3-20 (by post) and 26-3-20 (by hand).
