CIA police foils attempt to smuggle drugs

Islamabad: Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad police has foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of narcotics from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to Islamabad as well as Punjab and arrested five drug smugglers besides recovery of a total of 18.780 kilogram hashish from them, a police spokesman said.

He said that Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed assigned special task to SP (Investigation) Dr Mustafa Tanveer to ensure arrest of those involved in drug pusher activities.

He constituted special teams under supervision of DSP CIA Hakim Khan including Inspectors Muhammad Islfaq, Zafar Iqbal , ASI Sadder Abbasi and others. Police teams worked hard and succeeded to nab five drug pushes besides recovery of hug quantity of narcotics from them.

These drug smugglers have been identified as Shahid Zaman resident of District Kohat, Sohail Ali, Jamsheed Khan residents of District Kohat, Muzmal resident of Rawal Town and Arslan Bashir resident of Katrian District Rawalpindi.

Police team also recovered 18.780 kilogram hashish from their possession while further investigation is underway from them after registration of separate cases against them. Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed has appreciated this performance and directed all police officials to remain vigilant in their respective areas and ensure arrest of those involved in ugly business of drug pushing.
