PUNJAB Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan Monday claimed that elements responsible for assassination of former Home Minister Col (R) Shuja Khanzada have been traced.
Besides, he also told Punjab Assembly that two persons involved in the murder of Rana Shamshad Ahmed Khan, the former MPA, who was gunned down a couple of months ago in Kamonki, his hometown, had been arrested whereas efforts were underway to arrest all those nominated in the FIR.
Responding to two separate call attention notices by PTI member Sibtain Khan related with the killings of two former members of PA, including Col (R) Shuja Khanzada and Rana Shamshad Khan, the Law Minister said that progress had been made on both cases.
Regarding the progress in the case of Col (R) Shuja Khanzada’s assassination, Rana Sana stated that the agencies had almost reached the persons who were behind the August 16 incident. He said due to the sensitive nature of the case, its details couldn’t be made public but the elements had been traced.
Regarding the murder of former provincial minister and PML-N MPA in 2013 tenure Rana Shamshad Ahmed Khan, the Law Minister said that persons named Abu Bakar and Tariq Patwari who opened fired at Shamshad had been arrested. He said that after the incident took place, Rafique was nominated in the FIR and it was revealed that the mastermind of this murder plot had already shifted to Dubai along with their families. He said through the help of Interpol, the accused living abroad would also be brought back and the rest who were here would also be put behind the bars.
Meanwhile, the PA also witnessed heated debate over the issue of cane growers and their delayed payments by the sugar mill owners. The House was told by Parliamentary Secretary of Food Chaudhry Asadullah that recently Brothers Sugar Mill, Chuniyan had been sealed and an amount of Rs87 billion was due on it. He said that in 2013-2014, four sugar mills were sealed over the issue of delayed payment to cane growers whereas in 2015, action was also taken against different mill owners.
Moreover, in the question hour session which was related with Auqaf Department, Atta Mohammad Maneka, the minister concerned told the PA that 86 percent of the total income generated from shrines was spent on administrative affairs. Responding to a question, he said the government paid nothing to Auqaf Department and it fulfilled all its requirements itself. He said that after 86 percent of income was spent on administrative matters, the department was left with merely 14 percent which were insufficient for us.
Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed stated that due to lack of attention by the Auqaf Department, the menace of sectarianism was on the rise. Responding to it, Atta Maneka said that in all the mosques working under Punjab Auqaf Department, teachings related with Holy Quran and Hadith were taught.
