Operation against illegal housing societies launched

CHARSADDA: The district administration has launched an operation against the illegal housing societies in the district. Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Amin Khan said that the administration had launched the operation against about 80 illegal and unregistered housing societies which had occupied the land meant for agriculture purpose. “The administration has decided to register first information report (FIR) against the owners and also asked the officials of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) to disconnect the supply of electricity and gas to the societies,” he added. The official said the provincial government had already issued directives to the district administrations in the province to take strict action against the illegal housing society to save the agriculture lands and keep the environment clean of pollution. He said most of the owners had not yet obtained no-objection certificates from the district administration, terming them illegal. The official said about 160 kanals land had been occupied, adding, the district administration was left with no other option but to stop the mushroom growth of the illegal and unregistered societies. He said out of 80 societies, only one society had obtained NOC from the district administration. “The administration has taken strict action against the societies to ensure clean and green Pakistan,” he maintained.
