KP CM inaugurates uplift schemes in Khyber district
BARA: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Wednesday inaugurated several development projects, including improvement and widening of 43 kilometer road from Bara to Mastak, in Khyber district.
The project would be completed in two years for Rs1.6 billion, which would reduce the travel time from four hours to two.
The chief minister also inaugurated construction work on Rs45 million Rescue 1122 building in the Bara tehsil. He also opened the building for Citizen Facilitation Centre in Bara tehsil. The centre has been completed at Rs19.700 million. He administered oath to the newly-elected office-bearers of Bara Press Club.
While speaking to the media persons, Mahmood Khan appreciated their role in highlighting genuine issues of the society.
“We appreciate the efforts and struggle of the journalist community and expect that they will support the government in eradication of social evils,” he added.
The chief minister stated that the provincial government had devised 10 years development plan for development of the tribal districts, keeping in view the priorities of local people.
He added that Rs12 billion received from the federal government have been utilised for development whereas at least Rs50 billion additional development funds would be spent during the current fiscal year.
Mahmood Khan said the largest-ever development budget for the tribal districts, amounting to Rs83 billion, has been earmarked by the provincial government which would ensure speedy development of the tribal districts.
He added that all development works would be done according to the wishes and preferences of elected representatives and people of tribal districts.
On the occasion, the chief minister also handed over Rs50,000 cash aid to a poor child Hazir Khan, son of Farhad Khan whose video of labour went viral on social media platforms earlier. He also issued directives for the medical treatment of the child’s mother, monthly stipend and all educational expenses of the child to be incurred from provincial exchequer.
Mahmood Khan said that promises of the provincial government with Khassadar and Levies force has been fulfilled; now this force is part of provincial police and they will get all the perks and privileges on the pattern of KP Police. MNA Iqbal Afridi, MPA Shafiq Afridi and other officials were also present on the occasion. Earlier, the chief minister also opened work on the Rescue 1122 building in the Jamrud tehsil which would be completed in two years.
