Moderate rain prolongs cold wave

LAHORE:The day-long moderate rain increased the cold wave in the provincial capital here Tuesday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.

Met officials said a westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country and likely to persist during next 12 to 18 hours. They predicted that rain (with snowfall over mountains) is expected at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Cold and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country. Fog is likely to prevail in plain areas of Central/South Punjab and upper Sindh during morning and night hours. Rainfall was recorded at several cities, including Turbat 30, Khuzdar 19, Pasni 18, Panjgur 08, Kalat 06, Lasbella, Gwadar 02, Sibbi 01, Muzaffarabad (Airport 27, City 25), Kotli 25, Garhi Dupatta 18, Rawalakot 17, Murree 18, Sialkot (City 14, Airport 06), Islamabad (Saidpur 10, Zero-point 09, airport 07, Golrha, Bokra 05), Mangla 08, Narowal, Gujranwala 07, Jhelum 06, Lahore (City 05, Airport 01), Attock, Joharabad 05, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Noorpur Thal, DG Khan 04, Gujrat, Bhakkar, Rahim Yar Khan, Khanpur 03, Rawalpindi (Shamsabad 03), Multan, Kot Addu, Kasur, Toba Tek Singh 01, Kalam 25, Pattan 24, Balakot 23, Malam Jabba 20, Dir (Upper 19, Lower 06), Saidu Sharif 14, Drosh 12,Kakul 10, Chitral 05, Mirkhani 04, Parachinar 02, Peshawar (Airport 02), Cherat 01, Skardu 06, Bagrot 03, Dadu 03, Larkana, Padidan, Rohri 02, Sukkur and Jacobabad 01. Snowfall was also reported at Kalam, Malam Jabba, Ziarat, Murree, Skardu, Astore, Drosh, Chitral, Parachinar, Dir, Zhob, Bagrot, Hunza and Rawalakot. Tuesday’s minimum temperature was recorded at Gupis, Skardu and Bagrot where mercury dropped to -08°C while in Lahore, it was 8.2°C and maximum was 11.5°C.
