Saudi winter relief initiative to benefit 150,000
Islamabad:Under the 2020 Winter Relief Project in Pakistan, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) has launched a project to distribute 30,000 winter bags weighing 180 tons to needy people in the country’s coldest areas.
According to the plans, 8,000 bags will be distributed in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s six districts including Chitral, Shangla, Kohistan, Boner, Mansehra and Swat, 7,500 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s six districts including Neelum, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Haveli, Hattiyan Bala and Bagh, 7,500 in Gilgit-Baltistan’s five districts including Astore, Kharmang, Ghanche, Shigar and Ghizer, and 7,000 in Balochistan’s four districts including Ziarat, Kalat, Pishin and Zhob.
Every bag contains two blankets, shawls for men and women, five pairs of socks, gloves and caps. A total of 150,000 individuals will benefit from the initiative, which comes under the umbrella of humanitarian projects by the Saudi kingdom represented by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center to assist needy families in the coldest areas of the country’s 21 regions.
Religious affairs minister Noorul Haq Qadri appreciated the initiative and said it showed the Saudi government’s commitment to the humanitarian cause in Pakistan. He said the Pakistani government would offer all possible support and cooperation to the Saudi relief arm for the successful execution of the project.
