LAHORE:The City received rain on Monday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.
Met officials said a strong westerly wave is affecting most upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist in upper parts till Wednesday morning. They predicted rain with snowfall over the hills at scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper and central Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir while at isolated places in central and southern districts of Balochistan.
Rainfall was reported in several cities including Mastung, Kalat, Quetta, Pishin, Muslim Bagh, Sibbi, Chaman, Dalbandin, Ziarat, Zhob, Barkhan, Nokkundi, Khuzdar, Ormara, Loralai, Parachinar, DI Khan, Malam Jabba, Bannu, Kalam, Saidusharif, Dir, Layyah, Bhakkar, Bahawalpur, Jhang, Nurpurthal, Kot Adu, Faisalabad, Khanewal, Hafizabad, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Joharabad, DG Khan, Okara, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Bahawalnagar, Kasur, Khanpur, Chakwal, Murree, Mandi Bahauddin, Larkana and Skardu while snowfall was reported at Malam Jabba, Kalam, Zhob and Bagrot. Monday’s lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Skardu where mercury dropped down to -13°C while in Lahore it was 6.8°C and maximum was 11°C. Meanwhile, Met officials issued a warning that heavy rain and snowfall may generate flash flooding in local nullahs of northern districts of Balochistan during the recent spell.
