PESHAWAR: The Fata Secretariat has decided to merge Directorate of Irrigation into the Fata Development Authority (FDA), and the Governor’s Inspection Team into the Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate.
The decision to merge the entities was taken at a meeting of Fata Reforms Committee, wherein arrangements for the merger were finalised.
The meeting also formed four committees to monitor the reforms agenda of the Fata Secretariat with regards to merger of the various departments.
The decision to merge Irrigation Directorate with the FDA has led to uncertainty among 422 officials whose services would also be transferred to the authority.
An officer of the Fata Irrigation Directorate, requesting not to be identified, told The News that the FDA was a corporation and the transfer of hundreds of officials from the regular and permanent Irrigation Directorate would affect their career. It might put the future of the hundreds of officials and their families at stake.
He said that a regular and permanent department could not be merged with a corporate body and they have already sought stay order from the court of law against the same.
