LAHORE: Chill in the air increased as City received scattered rain on Sunday evening while Met officials predicted similar weather conditions with chances of heavy rain during the next 24 hours.
Met officials said that a strong westerly wave is affecting central and lower parts of the country and likely to affect upper parts during next 12 to 18 hours. They predicted that widespread rain with snowfall over the hills is expected in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan while at isolated places in upper Sindh. Heavy rainfall/ snowfall are also expected in northern Balochistan during the period.
On Sunday, fog prevailed at isolated places over plain areas of Punjab while rain/thunderstorm occurred at isolated places in Quetta, Dalbandin, Nokkundi, Khuzdar, Kalat, Barkhan, Zhob, Sibbi, Pattan, Malam Jabba, Peshawar, Bannu, Parachinar, DI Khan, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Bhakkar, Joharabad, Sahiwal, Okara, Multan, Khanewal, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Kot Addu, Layyah, Larkana, Mohen-jo-Daro and Kashmir. Weather remained dry and cold in remaining parts of the country while very cold in upper areas.
Sunday’s minimum temperature was recorded at Kalam where mercury dropped to -15°C while in Lahore, it was 5.2°C and maximum was 15.2°C. Meanwhile, Met officials released a weather warning predicting that heavy rain and snowfall may generate flash flooding in local nullahs of northern districts of Balochistan.
