Faisalabad lawyers stage sit-in for LHC bench

FAISALABAD: The District Bar Association (DBA) on Friday staged a sit-in in front of the district and sessions judge court to press their demand for establishment of a Lahore High Court bench in Faisalabad.
The protesters led by Malik Safira Khan Wasir chanted slogans against the Punjab government for its failure to issue a notification for setting up the LHC bench. The lawyers expressed their determination to launch a campaign in Faisalabad, Sahiwal and Sargodha divisions to motivate the people to support their just demand.
Later, the DBA members held a meeting under the chairmanship of bar president Malik Muhammad Ayub Sialvi and decided to observe complete strike in Faisalabad on every Friday, Saturday and Monday while partial strike would be observed on every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The meeting decided to meet the LHC chief justice in the next week and press the just demand of the DBA members. In case, they did not receive any positive response, the lawyers would be constrained to demonstrate on roads, the meeting decided.
