Police on Friday registered a case against Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar’s son for allegedly carrying out aerial firing and thrashing a citizen on New Year’s Eve.
An FIR No 2/20 was registered at the Darakshan police station against Taimur Akhtar, the son of the Karachi mayor, on the complaint of a citizen, Hasnain Haider Abbas, who accused Taimur of thrashing him on New Year’s Eve.
The complainant stated in the FIR that the mayor’s son had manhandled him with his gunman in the Darakshan police station’s remits late on Tuesday night. The complainant approached the Darakshan police for the registration of a case against Taimur. Police said they had registered the case under multiple sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including those pertaining to scuffle, threats and others.
The FIR reads that Taimur and his gunman had beaten up the complainant and also attempted to push him into his vehicle while making death threats. The suspects also allegedly threatened friends of the complainant who tried to resist them. However, no arrest has been made till the filing of this story. Further investigations are under way.
