Two offices of INGO sealed off
NOWSHERA: The district administration on Thursday sealed two regional offices of an international non-governmental organisation over alleged illegal activities.
Additional Assistant Commissioner Hajira Sami raided the two offices of the INGO Marie Stopes Society located in the Savul Colony. The INGO had allegedly set up the two offices under the names of “Suraj” and “Behter Zindagi”. Both the offices were sealed off by the police and the staff taken into custody. The ADC told the media the two offices were involved in illegal activities such as abortions. She said the INGO was working illegally as the government had not renewed its non-objection certificate. The official said those working at the two offices were taken into custody but were later released on bail. However, investigation was launched against 10 staff members. She said a report had been submitted to the Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan and the Healthcare Commission would take further action.
