Youth murdered over enmity
LAHORE:A 22-year-old man was murdered over an old enmity on first day of new year in the Hurbanspura police limits here on Wednesday.
Police removed the body to morgue for autopsy. The victim has been identified as Irfan. Four unidentified suspects approached the victim and scuffled with him. His brothers tried to rescue him, but one of the accused opened firing. As a result, the victim received injuries and died on way to Services Hospital. Police reached the scene and collected evidence. Police said the accused had nursed grudge against the victim over a case against them. Despite reconciliation, the accused killed him. Further investigation is under way.
selfie attempt takes life: A 34-year-old man died after falling off a roof while taking a selfie in the Mozang police limits here on New Year night.
Police handed over the body to victim’s family after completing legal formalities. The victim was identified as Mobeen of Mughalpura.
Meanwhile, a 75-year-old man died from cold near Karol Ghati in the Gujjarpura police limits. Police removed the body to morgue for autopsy. In another incident, a 45-year-old man was found dead in his house in Gohawa in the Nadirabad police check-post area. The victim was identified as Zahid. Police removed the body to morgue for autopsy.
GIRL RAPED: A 12-year-old girl was raped in Johar Town police limits. Police arrested the accused identified as Khurshid alias Pappu Masih. A case No 3/2020 has been registered under section 376 of PPC.
fire: Two people sustained burns, five others went unconscious and valuables worth lakhs of rupees were gutted in 11 fire incidents in the provincial metropolis here on Wednesday. Rescue 1122 fire service responded to the emergencies, controlled fire, provided first aid and shifted critical patients to hospitals.
Fire erupted in shops in Salamatpura, Faizbagh, Chowk Dial Singh college and Rehmanpura while at homes in Davis Road area, Green Town, Najaf Colony Iqbal Town and Lake City. Two fire incidents were reported in cardboard factory and transformer. In Davis Road area fire, five people went unconscious due to suffocation while one received burns.
The injured man was shifted to hospital. In Iqbal Town fire, a 90-year-old man received burns when fire erupted at his home 262-A Block, Street 8, Moon Market. He received 45 per cent burns in his body. He was shifted to Jinnah Hospital burn unit. Valuables including furniture were also destroyed in the fire incidents.
Gang busted: Sadr CIA busted a gang of drug peddlers by arresting its members involved in supply of illegal drugs in universities, hostels and cinema halls.
A woman was also among the arrested accused. They have been identified as Gul Ahmad and Rubina. Police seized 6kg charas and 4kg opium from their custody. They used to bring drugs wrapped up in cloth.
