Taking notice of the alleged involvement of the SHO of PIB police station in operation of drug dens in the area under his jurisdiction, SSP East Jawed Jiskani on Thursday removed the official from his post and initiated departmental action against him.
Talking to The News, SSP East Jiskani said PIB Colony was notorious for the operation of drug mafia. He had led a grand operation against drug peddlers in the area a month ago in which 17 criminals had been arrested, whereas eight weapons and a sizable quantity of narcotics had been seized from them.
He said the hideouts of drug peddlers were destroyed with the narcotics.
SSP East said PIB SHO sub-inspector Sohail Khan was directed to control the situation after the grand operation but he failed since the activities of the drug peddlers in the areas returned to their previous state.
The SSP said the SHO’s alleged involvement in their activities also surfaced since he was reported to have collected bribes from the drug peddlers.
Therefore, he initiated strict action against the SHO by removing him from his post and demoting him.
