ISLAMABAD: In a drop scene of Rs5.2 million gold theft from the Parliament lodges, MNA Shahjahan Mangrio on Tuesday forgave her maid who was accused of stealing the gold from the apartment.
“I have received their application for forgiveness and I pardoned them in the name of God,” MNA told the civil judge during the hearing of the case on Tuesday.
However, the legislator maintained that she reserved the right to proceed against the accused for the recovery of her jewelry. Suleman Badar, civil judge, granted bail to accused Lubna, her sister Sidra and their relative Aamir and fixed the case for September 8.
Talking to The News, investigation officer Gulzar of Secretariat Police Station said the police wanted remand of the accused but the same was not granted as the complainant forgave the accused.
However, one of the accused Aamir told The News that the case was concocted as he never saw the MNA and never stepped inside the parliament lodges. “My sister Lubna was working with madam Shahjahan Mangrio as maid for last few weeks and when she asked for leave, the lawmaker refused and threatened to sent them to police,” he said.
Aamir said he went to reception of the parliament lodges along with Sidra, the sister of accused Lubna, to bring the maid home but all three were taken to police on the pressure of MNA.
“Not only the maid was deprived of her salary, she was falsely implicated in a fake theft case,” Aamir said adding that police acted unlawfully on the pressure of MNA.
Police spokesman denied that the a fake case was registered against the maid and her family members. “The case was registered as the amount involved was too high to be ignored,” the spokesman said.
However, he failed to answer how the complainant can forgive the accused if the case was genuine. MNA Shahjahan Mangrio denied that any incident of theft took place at her residence.
However, she added that if someone has been arrested by police, there must be some strong reasons for that. “You must be mistaken as no incident of theft took place at my apartment and my maid was not arrested by police” she added.
The capital police had arrested the three accused Aamir, Lubna and Sidra on Sunday from the Parliament Lodges and registered a First Information Report (FIR) under section under section 381/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
