BARA: The political administration of Khyber Agency distributed cheques among the families of 18 victims of militancy on Wednesday.
The cheques were distributed at a ceremony at the Khyber House in Peshawar.
A number of tribal elders and relatives of the slain and injured persons attended the function.
Assistant Political Agent of Bara tehsil Muhammad Nasir Khan handed over the cheques to the affectees.
Talking to reporters, he said that Rs7.4 million had been distributed among the families of 18 slain and injured persons.
He said the family of each dead person was given Rs300,000 while each injured received Rs100,000.
Nasir Khan said the widow of Shan Ahmad, who was a member of the Khassadar force, received Rs2.5 million in compensation under the Shaheed package. The APA added the political administration had started compensating the tribespeople from Khyber Agency who suffered losses in acts of subversion.
He said many people had been compensated for losses and the claims of many others were being looked into.
