‘100 held during special drive against land mafia in Peshawar’
PESHAWAR: The Capital City Police said on Monday that the campaign against the land mafia had been accelerated and over 100 members of various groups arrested in recent weeks.
The spokesman for the Peshawar Police said the cops during actions in the limits of different police stations arrested over 100 people for land grabbing and association with the land mafia. “The police during the action have arrested over 100 people so far. On Monday the Gulbahar police station arrested the front-man of a patwari while gunman of another influential person was arrested in Faqirabad. Police have recovered two automatic guns from them and lodged a case against them,” said the spokesman.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police (SP) City Mohammad Shoaib said two cases were lodged against notorious Darazay and Ameer Nawab and his associates in the last one week. He added the groups were involved in criminal intimidation and generating threat to the public, wrongfully confining persons and criminal trespass. The SP City said they had gone for bail after continuous raids.
The official said he had met complainants and gave them confidence after which they got registered the fit information reports. The SP told reporters that action was being taken against the people carrying weapons in public. Also, another person Adil was arrested along with his gunman Junaid from the limits of the Bhanamari Police Station. The gunman was said to be wearing a uniform like police.
