ORLANDO, Florida: US Solheim Cup skipper Juli Inkster named Paula Creamer and Brittany Lang as her captain’s picks here on Monday, completing a 12-strong squad which will attempt to wrest back the title from Europe next month.
Inkster said Creamer and Lang would give her team experience and chemistry in their quest to defeat the powerful European side which won on US soil for the first time in 2013.
“I’m very pleased with my two captain’s picks,” said Inkster. “They are very competitive players.”
Creamer’s world ranking has slipped to 40th this season but Inkster is convinced the five-time Solheim Cup veteran will relish the opportunity to return to form in US colors.
Creamer currently ranks third on the all-time list of American point scorers in the Solheim Cup.
“Paula has been in a little bit of a funk but I expect her to be out of it and ready to go,” Inkster said.
“I’m looking forward to it and I think the team is really stoked to get over there and turn the tide a little bit. “We are going there as underdogs but we are going to go in there and fight for everything.”
