BATKHELA: A tehsildar and a former councillor of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf were picked up by an anti-graft body over corruption charges on Friday, official sources said.
They said that the district administration was alerted when a wireless message was circulated about the abduction of Batkhela Tehsildar, Fazal Hadi, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf former councillor from Alladhand, Jamal Khan.
The law-enforcement agencies blocked all the exit and entry routes to catch up with the kidnappers, but later it was confirmed that both had been picked up by an anti-graft body and shifted to Peshawar for interrogation.
The sources said that they were arrested over graft charges in the case of land acquisition for the Swat Expressway.
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner Iqbal Hussain Bacha said that the barricades were lifted when it was confirmed that the officials of an anti-graft body had picked them up.
