Following a woman’s murder late Wednesday night, police have launched a hunt to catch the woman’s spouse who is a prime suspect.
Twenty-year-old Nayab, a mother of two, was wife of Yousuf. She was shot dead on her doorstep by two men, police said while quoting eyewitnesses. As Nayab opened the door, the two men confirmed her identity with her and then they shot at her multiple times, eyewitnesses told police. She was killed in Patel Para on Nishter Road, within the limits of Jamshed Quarters police station.
Following her murder, Yousuf briefly visited home and handed his children over two neighbors, eyewitnesses said, adding that he also took away his wife’s mobile phone.
Police said they found a shell of .30 bore pistol at the crime scene. The body was taken the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities. Police claimed that the woman had reportedly a relationship with Yousuf’s younger brother, namely Haroon in Charsada; however, Haroon was later killed allegedly by Nayab’s brother and uncle.
Following Haroon’s murder, Nayab ran away from her hometown and came to Karachi, police said, adding that she married Haroon’s elder brother Yousuf. Police said the husband had gone into hiding following Nayab’s murder. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
