Girl dies two days before marriage

LAHORE:A 20-year-old girl, who was going to get married after two days, died in hospital in ambiguous circumstances in the Chuhng police limits on Wednesday.

Police have removed the body to morgu. The victim has been identified as Mehak, a resident of Chuhng. On the day of the incident, her condition went critical. She was rushed to hospital where she died. Police reached the scene and collected evidence.

DIG Operations Lahore Rai Babar Saeed directed all divisional SPs of Lahore Police to speed up the crackdown on narcotics sellers and gamblers. SSP Operations Lahore Muhammad Naveed and divisional SPs are monitoring the actions taken against drug peddlers and gamblers by Lahore Police.

Accordingly, City Division Police arrested 96, Cantt Division 112, Civil Lines Division 68, Sadar Division 62, Iqbal Town Division 46 whereas Model Town Division Police arrested 70 drug peddlers during their crackdown. Police also recovered more than 68kg Charas, 06kg heroin, more than 05kg opium, more than 06kg Bhang and 4,872-litre liquor from the arrested criminals.

Police also recovered more than Rs769,000 cash from the 493 criminals in action against gamblers.

Lahore Police (Civil Lines Division) in its crackdown arrested 121 criminals, recovered 08 pistols, two kalashnikoves, one pistol, bullets, 2.5kg Charas and 187-litre liquor. SP Civil Lines Division Dost Muhammad had directed DSPs and SHOs concerned to take strict action against criminal gangs. Civil Line Division Police busted three gangs, arrested its seven members along with recoveries worth Rs530,000 from them. Police also recovered more than Rs20,000 from 18 criminals.
