KP govt to introduce inventory management system at tehsil, district level hospitals

December 12, 2019

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department would introduce inventory management system at tehsil and district level hospitals.

A handout said the Health Department decided to introduce the inventory management system to ensure transparency and timely availability of medicines in public sector hospitals across the province.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Health Minister Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan here on Wednesday. Member of the Provincial Assembly and Chairperson Standing Committee on Health Dr Sameera Shams, Secretary Health Yahya Akhunzada, Special Secretary Dr Farooq Jameel and other relevant officials were present in the meeting. Dr Hisham Inamullah said that inventory management systems would be introduced in all tehsil and district headquarters hospitals of the province. “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the first province where inventory management system is being introduced at district and tehsil level hospitals,” Dr Hisham claimed. He directed relevant authorities to take steps for implementation of the system by March 2020. By implementing this system, he said the common man would be able to obtain information about medicines from hospitals through mobile phones, adding that this would help in stopping the theft of medicines in hospitals. The health minister said that concrete steps were being taken to establish hospitals on modern lines so as to improve healthcare service delivery.
