Sindh govt to adopt earthquake-hit school in Mirpur in AJK

The Sindh government is keenly interested in adopting an earthquake-hit school in Mirpur, Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK).

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said this on Tuesday as he met AJK Prime Minister Raja Mohammad Farooq Haider.

Shah said the people of Sindh had a lot of respect and love for their Kashmiri brothers and sisters and they were grieved upon hearing about the recent earthquake in Mirpur that caused casualties and damage to properties. “We have decided to adopt a school in Mirpur and we would rehabilitate the building and run it like a model school,” the CM said.

The AJK PM thanked the CM and people of Sindh for supporting the people of Kashmir. “It is a good news for the people of Mirpur that one of their devastated schools will be rehabilitated,” he said.

The CM directed his principal secretary to coordinate with the AJK government and take necessary measures for adopting a school in Mirpur. The two leaders also discussed the plight of people of Indian-held Kashmir and condemned Indian atrocities there.

The CM urged the human rights bodies working all over the word to raise the issue of cruelties inflicted on the people of Indian-Occupied Kashmir. “They [Kashmiris] need help and support of all the people believing in human rights, freedom of speech and respect for co-existence all over the world,” he said.
