FIA Gujranwala has initiated an inquiry against accused persons for obtaining alleged fake CNIC and passport as well as against those Nadra and passport officials who allegedly helped them in getting the fake documents from Gujrat.
According to a complaint, filed with Additional Director General (Immigration) FIA Headquarters Islamabad, one Aftab Asghar Butt and Samina Akhtar, widow of one Zaman Mehdi with alleged connivance of Nadra office Gujrat got issued CNIC of one Noor Zaman with bogus father’s name of Zaman Mehdi. A complainant said that Noor was a real daughter of Aftab Asghar Butt, younger brother of late Zaman Mehdi, who had died some 15 years back.
Aftab Asghar Butt and Samina Akhtar with alleged connivance of employees of passport office of Gujrat got bogus passport No BJ 5207901 issued of Noor Zaman by using the same fake name of Zaman Mehdi as her father, it said.
The lady with fake CNIC and passport also managed to get UK visa and travelled to that country on those fake documents as well.
Sometimes back, Noor Zaman contracted marriage with one Numan Butt, real son of Zaman Mehdi, with Nikahnama registered under the Municipal Committee of Gujrat.
The Immigration Wing of Islamabad has forwarded the complaint to Director FIA Punjab vide No. FIA/DD/AHS/837/2015/2031-32 dated 5 August 2015 for further necessary actions.
Director FIA Punjab has forwarded the same to FIA Gujranwala where a formal inquiry 296/15 has been initiated with Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of Gujranwala.
This was second complaint filed with FIA Gujranwala and FIA Lahore after the complainant did not get any response from the quarters concerned for a year.
Talking to The News on Sunday, Deputy Director FIA, Khalid Anees, who is also the head of Gujranwala Circle of FIA, said they had launched investigations into the issue. He said the role of those Nadra and passport officials of Gujrat who had allegedly issued Noor Zaman’s fake ID card and fake passport would be established after the investigations and the accused officials would be taken to task.
Nadra spokesman was not available for his comments despite repeated efforts were made on his cell phone numbers on Sunday.
