No chances of in-house change, new elections: Mengal

ISLAMABAD: Balochistan National Party (BNP) chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal Sunday said that there was no likelihood for in-house change or new elections.

Talking in Geo News programme ‘Geo Parliament’, the BNP chief said that the opposition was not serious. Had the opposition been serious the government would not have been that much unbridled. But if the government is not delivering and in-house change could be possible. Akhtar Mengal said that grace period for the incumbent government is over. He maintained if the government wants to meet him they should come to him with results, adding that they were calling a meeting of party in Karachi in which final decision would be made. He threatened that if the party insisted he would resign from the National Assembly (NA) seat.

Two days ago, the BNP-M had threatened the PTI-government of quitting the coalition government after four women from Balochisan’s Awaran district were arrested. According to Akhtar Mengal, “four women were kidnapped and taken away to a torture cell and beaten up”. The Mengal-led party had called the reported arrest of the women a direct attack on the traditions of the Baloch people and demanded formation of a high-level committee to investigate the crime.
