Opposition’s minus-Imran dream will never materialise

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan Friday said the opposition’s dream of a government minus Prime Minister Imran Khan will never materialise.

Talking to a private news channel, she said the undemocratic and unconstitutional demands of PML-N leader Shahbaz Sharif could not be accepted anymore and the government would never be blackmailed by his fabricated stories. She said the opposition had lost the public support, adding that Shahbaz Sharif should now wait for four years and he will be disappointed over the negative propaganda against the government.

Reacting strongly to Shahbaz Sharif’s remarks about an in-house change, Firdous asked Shahbaz to first bring an in-house change in his party.

She said Shahbaz Sharif himself was a puppet in the hands of the PML-N senior leadership, adding, he even had no power to take decision within his own party.

She said the PML-N leadership just wanted to get public sympathies and do political point scoring through blackmail but they knew that the public had totally rejected their negative politics in last general elections and cast vote for the sincere leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Firdous also urged the opposition to fulfill its responsibility on legislation in Parliament and respect the elected democratic leadership of the PTI. She said when the opposition leaders were in power, they respected Parliament but when they were out of power they started criticising Prime Minister Imran Khan for no reason.

“Every Pakistani is disappointed with their corrupt practices in past and knows the truth behind their negative agendas,” she remarked.

She made it clear that the government would never compromise on corruption, adding that Imran Khan was doing hard work and determined for a strong, prosperous Naya Pakistan which was giving fruitful results. She said the opposition on the other hand wanted to cover up its money laundering and corruption cases under the garb of medical treatment.

The PTI government, she said, wanted that the opposition should work with it for the national interest instead of misleading the public.

Replying to another question about Nawaz Sharif, she said the government would not comment on the issue until his medical reports were available.
