IG inaugurates first police web TV channel
LAHORE:IG Punjab Shoaib Dastgir Thursday visited Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) Headquarters at Qurban Lines.
He chaired a session on performance of the authority after inauguration of first police web TV channel in Pakistan. Shoaib Dastgir said the web TV channel will propagate information and awareness about traffic laws, situation of law and order and programmes of general policing which will be instrumental in strengthening coordination between public and police. He directed the officers that actions against criminals on roads and sensitive places should be done quickly through proper monitoring and police response and rescue forces should work together at other safe city projects in big cities so that the citizens may be helped out in the time of emergency.
He expressed these views while addressing the officers in the meeting. During this visit, the IG examined the working of Central Operational Room, Pukar 15 headquarters and media monitoring room. Briefing about performance of Pukar 15, MD safe city was of the opinion that phone calls of more than 70,000 citizens are received on Pukar 15 headquarters from the province and police help is provided to the citizens timely. During the meeting, the IG directed officers for further improvement in working of crime control phenomenon, e- challaning and working of Pukar 15.
DIG: Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations Wing) Lahore Rai Babar Saeed paid surprise visits to different police stations of Iqbal Town and Sadar Divisions. He inspected lockups, barracks, front desks and other related sections of the Police Stations.
He also checked the attendance of the staff and record of the Reporting Room along with cleanliness of the police stations. Rai Babar Saeed suspended SHO Police Station Wahdat Colony Inspector Hassan Askari and SHO Police Station Green Town Muhammad Aslam Shafi for poor performance.
During his visit of the Police Stations, he directed the Police officials and officers to improve their performance.
ARRESTED: Lahore Police (Civil Lines Division) in its crackdown on criminals arrested 159 criminals and recovered 07pistols, 02 guns, bullets, more than 02kg Charas and 472 liters of liquor. SP Civil Lines Division Dost Muhammad had directed the DSPs and SHOs concerned to take strict action against criminal gangs. Police also recovered more than 83 thousands of rupees from the 50 criminals in its successful action against gamblers.
