Minister directs action against brick kilns for violation

LAHORE

Provincial Minister for Environment Protection M Rizwan has taken notice of violation of the orders for closure of brick kilns in different districts and directed Environment Director General Tanveer Waraich to take immediate action and check all the brick kilns in the province.

He also directed the DG to take legal action against the owners of brick kilns who did not close their kilns despite order of the department. The minister also asked the officers concerned to visit the areas where from the complaints of smoke emissions from kilns were coming.

He said every worker of the department had to fulfil their responsibilities to prevent environmental pollution. services lauded: The Non-Teaching Staff Association (NTSA) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore arranged get together to pay tribute to grade 1 to grade 17 retired employees of UVAS here in City Campus Lahore.

UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani presided over the ceremony while Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, President (NTSA) Muhammad Arif, Qazi Muhammad Akram, Muhammad Aslam Siddiqui and a large number of retired employees from across the country were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Masood Rabbani said that all the retired employees of UVAS played their role in the up gradation of Collage of Veterinary Science (CVS) Lahore into University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences UVAS, Lahore.

He lauded their services in their concerning fields for the progress of UVAS. He said due to collective effort of old employees UVAS ranked among top 10 universities of Pakistan in overall ranking of universities by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Muhammad Arif said that all retired employee efforts and services were actually behind the progress of the university.
