Dr Yasmin Rashid orders interviews of anesthetic technologists
LAHORE:Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has directed Primary and Secondary Healthcare the Secretary Muhammad Usman to conduct walk-in-interviews of anesthetic technologists on a daily basis.
Chairing a meeting at Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department on Wednesday, the Minister also reviewed the details regarding availability and performance of all doctors, specialists and paramedical staff of DHQ hospitals in the province.
Dr Yasmin Rashid directed the secretary to establish an anesthesia department in every DHQ hospital for providing maximum relief to the patients. She directed that six medical officers, three anesthetics and three technologists would be deputed in every anesthesia department. She directed the health secretary health to personally monitor the performance of doctors of DHQ hospitals. She also reviewed the master plan for eradication of hepatitis in Nankana Sahib.
The health secretary briefed the minister about the facts and figures of hepatitis patients in district Nankana Sahib. Dr Yasmin Rashid said that Institute of Public Health will be made the best place for providing training to doctors.
Seminar: A seminar on social media addiction and prevention and management was held on Wednesday in King Edward Medical University. Foreign experts and consultants, including Dr Zebulon Taintor, psychiatrist from New York and Dr Ambreen Rauf, consultant gynaecologist and obstetrician from the United Kingdom and representative of APPNE shared their knowledge with the participants. Interactive lectures and question-answer sessions were also arranged on the topic of “Social Media Addiction: Diagnosis, Treatment and Rehabilitation.”
Prof Khalid Masood Gondal emphasised on collaborative efforts for enhancing quality of medical education and international accreditation of the university programmes. He also stressed about the time division for healthy academic activities, physical exercises and best use of social media for professional development. Dr Zebulon Taintor referred to drug addiction reduction strategy. He told the audience about the disinformation and research showing fast dissemination of fake news as compared to good news on internet. He answered many questions from medical students especially to decrease negative thought and use of group therapy. Dr Ambreen Sajid Rauf, in her lecture, informed the participants about student mentoring programmes in various universities in United Kingdom.
She offered the help from APPNE for internship, electives and continuous professional development. She gave a message of "one voice, one community."
