Alhamra academy of arts affairs discussed
LAHORE:A meeting was held on Tuesday to discuss and review various matters of Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts at Alhamra Arts Centre, The Mall.
The meeting was chaired by Lahore Arts Council Board of Governor Chairperson Moneeza Hashmi along with Lahore Arts Council (LAC) Executive Director Athar Ali Khan. A number of issues were discussed regarded Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts.
Moneeza Hashmi said the teachers should encourage moral education besides technical education for students and discipline should be taken into consideration in all matters. She also directed the teachers to strictly observe the rules and regulations in the academy and ensure attendance of students as well.
Athar Ali Khan said that teachers' performance would be reviewed on a monthly basis. He also directed the staff to present a comprehensive plan for students’ grooming. “We are glad to see that our youth have keen interest in music and other field of arts. Alhamra is the perfect platform for young people to showcase their skills,” he added.
The meeting finalised the literary and cultural programmes for the upcoming months. It was decided to organise more programmes to assess the performance of the students. The meeting was also attended by Director Arts and Culture Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi and all teachers of Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts.
Museum: A group of 24 students from Kinnaird College for Women visited Alhamra Art Museum. The students observed the precious artworks at Alhamra Art Museum and praised the huge collection of artworks displayed there. They were of the opinion that the museum was a unique.
Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Ather Ali khan said that the Alhamra Art Museum was an important institution. There are around 326 artworks of 118 world-renowned artists in the museum which reflect the thousand years old civilization. He said that it was a main centre of art history of Pakistan.
He said “Our team recently restored nine rare artworks to their original form.” The artists whose paintings have been restored, included Anna Molka Ahmed, Colin David, Moin Najmi, Ghulam Rasool, Mehmood Butt, Ahmed Shahbaz, Salima Hashmi and Mian Ijaz-ul-Hassan.
