LANDIKOTAL: Announcing a crackdown against narcotics’ peddlers in the three subdivisions of Khyber district, the newly posted District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Iqbal said on Monday that they have adopted a zero tolerance policy against the smugglers of ice (methamphetamine) drug and other contraband items.

Flanked by Inspector Abid Afridi, the DPO was welcomed by police and Khassadars personnel in Jamrud. He was briefed by DSPs Jahangir and Abdullah Jan Afridi. He first went to the Jamrud lockup and met the jail inmates.

Jail Superintendent Moeenuddin took the official to the different rooms and record room in the prison. The DPO visited police offices and checked rooms and office record. He showed concern over the unhygienic conditions in the jail and issued directives to the officials to ensure cleanliness at the jail. The DPO ordered Sub-Inspector Aziz to remove the waste heap placed inside the jail.
