Gulfam Joseph breaks into Asian rankings
KARACHI: Pakistan’s shooter Gulfam Joseph achieved Asian Rankings for the first time after his brilliant performance in the recently concluded Asian Shooting Championship in Qatar.
Joseph won a quota place for next year’s Olympics in 10-metre Air Pistol event. This helped him achieve the 17th spot in Asia in the rankings released by Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC) for December.
It is to be noted that Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has already nominated Joseph as the flag-bearer of Pakistan’s contingent for the 13th South Asian Games. The POA took the decision after taking input from the chairman of the Athletes Commission of POA and world leading wrestler Mohammad Inam.
Two other Pakistani shooters also broke into Asian rankings this month. Usman Sadiq achieved the 32nd ranking in Trap event. Hassan Abbas achieved the 108th ranking in 10-metre Air Rifle event.
