Conference on ‘Iqbal’s Philosophy for Personal & Social Change’ held
Islamabad :National Conference on ‘The Inclusiveness of Iqbal’s Philosophy and its Potential for Personal and Social Change” has been organized by Bahria University at Islamabad Campus. Objective of the event was to pay tribute and inculcate the philosophy of Allama Muhammad Iqbal in young generation.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) who is also Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Board of Governors Bahria University graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Two days event included key note speeches, panel discussions and research paper presentations related to Iqbal and his wisdom.
Bahria University is promoting intellectual thoughts and visionary message of national heroes and scholars through academic and literary pursuits. Eminent Speakers included Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik, Iftikhar Arif and Dr. Shahid Siddiqui who also shared their intellectual thoughts on the subject.
Conference actively explored Iqbal’s philosophical and practical guidance through academic exercise and probed ways for its implementation in different domains of an Islamic state.
Chief Guest of the ceremony, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi in his remarks emphasised that ‘two aspects of Allama Iqbal’s thought are very important, firstly Iqbal’s philosophy is based on Quranic teachings which is affirmed by many scholars and secondly Iqbal’s inclusiveness.’ He added that our young students should take the message of Iqbal and be motivated to implement in their personal lives.
Bahria University has established ‘Iqbal Chair’, a body which specifically focuses on objectives for implementing teachings of Iqbal amongst university students in an organized manner. Earlier in his welcome address, Rector Bahria University Vice Admiral Kaleem Shaukat thanked worthy guests and speakers for their presence. Rector BU eloquently expressed that based on the philosophy of Iqbal, Bahria University aspires to provide all the opportunities to our youth for exploring beyond horizon, see beyond the apparent, and create opportunities.
Speakers also shared poetry of Allama Iqbal with the students and emphasized on Iqbal's concept of self-awareness, self-empowerment, self-discovery, knowledge and research. Students were very motivated by the poetry. Large number of students and faculty and guest scholars participated great leader and poet.
