KARACHI: Muhammad Imran and Tayyab Tahir scored centuries to enable Southern Punjab set a daunting 484-run target for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the third day of their four-day final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2nd XI tournament here at SBP Ground on Thursday.
Having a 150-run lead, Southern Punjab resumed their second innings at 86-4. At one stage, they were gasping at 140-6, but Imran and Tayyab lifted them with impressive batting. Tayyab, who had scored 107 in the first innings, once again did a fine job by striking 106 off 242-balls.
Tayyab put on a crucial 118 for the seventh wicket with Mohammad Imran (113) to take their side to 333 all out in 113 overs. Tayyab hammered eight fours and a six in his commanding knock. Imran struck 16 fours and a six in his 156-ball knock. Asif Afridi took four 4-85, while Irfanullah Shah grabbed 3-72 in 19 overs. KP were 11 without loss in three overs at stumps.
