The Sindh government has made it binding on itself that tree plantation should be done on a compulsory basis along with the construction of every new development project in the province.
An announcement to this effect was made by Law and Environment Adviser Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Thursday while he was talking to newsmen after conducting a tree plantation campaign at the underpasses and the flyover on Shaheed-e-Millat Road in the city.
Barrister Wahab said the provincial government had been doing its best to overcome the issue of environmental pollution in the province, and for the purpose plantation campaigns were being carried out in different parts of Karachi with the support of corporate sector entities.
In this regard, beautiful plant saplings had been planted at the new projects of the underpasses and the flyover on Shaheed-e-Millat Road to make the ambience pleasant. He said that not just the government but common citizens were also required to take part in the tree plantation campaign as such environmentally friendly trees should be planted whose presence were helping in neutralising the phenomenon of environmental pollution.
The adviser expressed gratitude to different community-based organisations and educational institutions, which had been carrying out plantation drives at a number of places in the city. He said that such support was highly welcoming as the provincial government always gave value to such steps.
