SHC orders removal of encroachments from irrigation land
SUKKUR: The Sindh High Court Circuit Bench Sukkur ordered the Irrigation Department to remove all illegal occupations and encroachments from thousands of acres of department’s lands. A citizen, Abdul Rahim Bharo through his counsel Advocate Jan Muhammad Sangi, had filed a petition in SHC Sukkur Bench, maintaining that thousands of acres of irrigation land in Khairpur, Sukkur, Badin, Thatta, Hyderabad and other districts were illegally occupied by land grabbers. He had pleaded that the Irrigation Department was not taking any action against the culprits.
Justice Aftab Ahmed Gorar and Justice Abdul Rasheed Soomro ordered the District and Sessions Judges of their respective districts to appoint civil judges to inspect the land along with irrigation officials and directed to submit their reports by December 24. The bench also ordered the irrigation department to immediately remove all encroachments from their land. The bench also directed the law enforcement agencies, including Sindh Rangers and police, to support the irrigation authorities in the land recovery operation.
