Man killed, two injured in firing in New Karachi
A man was killed and two others wounded in a firing incident in New Karachi Industrial Area on Monday.
Police said the incident took place at a cement manufacturing place located in the Godhra locality within the limits of the New Karachi Industrial Area police station during early hours of Monday.
Police said unidentified armed men arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire on the victims, killing one of them on the spot and wounding the other two. Responding to the information, ambulances from welfare organisations reached the scene and transported the deceased and injured to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy and medical treatment respectively.
The deceased was identified as 18-year-old Sabir, son of Asif, while the injured included Noman, 27, son of Akbar Rehman, and Tahir, 22, son of Ghaffar.
According to SHO Kamal Naseem, the killers had come there to target a suspected member of a militant outfit, namely Mursaleen, who remained unhurt in the incident and managed to escape the scene. A case has been registered while further investigations are under way.
Man shot dead
A 50-year-old man, Amin, son of Saleem, was shot dead in the Sultanabad area within the limits of the Manghopir police station. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy. Police said the incident took place near the victim’s residence.
According to police, Amin hailed from Punjab and was unmarried. He used to run a photostat shop in the area. Police explained that the incident took place when he was targeted by unidentified persons on his way to his shop. Police suspect that the incident took place for offering resistance during a mugging bid and are investigating the case from different angles.
