Ziaul Haq Makhdoom elected as SHCBA president
Advocate Ziaul Haq Makhdoom has been elected as the president of the Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) for 2019-20 in toughly contested elections held on Saturday. According to official results that were announced in the early hours of Sunday, Makhdoom defeated Mohammad Saleem Mangrio, a former two-time SHCBA president.
Mohammad Ishaq Ali was elected as the vice president of the bar association who defeated five candidates Khursheed Javed, Sarwat Israr, Sheikh Rehan Farooq, Syed Sanaullah Shah and Syed Zulfiqar Haider Shah.
Mohammad Hasseb Jamali was declared as the returning candidate for the office of honorary secretary. Jamali defeated Jam Asif Mehmood Lar, Irfan Ahmed Siddiqui and Syed Yasir Ahmed Shah.
Farhan Khaliq was declared successful for the post of treasurer against Hamid Idrees and Mohammad Idress Alvi while Agha Zafar Ahmed won the joint secretary post by defeating his rival Tassaduq Nadeem.
Nine members, including Munawar Hussain, Humera Javed, Faisal Ahmed, Mohammad Furqan Qureshi, Akhtar Saeed Ishaque, Naseer Ahmed Khan, Shahzad Raheem, Mohammad Atiq Qureshi and Masood Ahmed Siddiqui, were elected as the members of the SHCBA managing committee.
The polling was held at the Sindh High Court from 9am to 5pm. As many as 2,730 votes were cast to elect the new SHCBA office-bearers.
