Contradictions
November 21, 2019
This refers to the article 'The importance of being flexible' (Nov 20) by Hussain Zaidi. In my view, politicians come up with an emotionally charged statement on some issue and change their stance when push comes to shove. Maulana Fazlur Rehman vowed to block the highways as per his Plan B and soon retracted on the pretext of inconvenience to the public. Did he think through this situation earlier?
In the same vein, PTI leaders dared Maulana to sustain the sit-in for a month. However, soon after the dharna, the government formed a committee to negotiate with the Rahbar Committee. The contradictions in speech and action reflect lack of pragmatism as well as introspection misconstrued as U-turns in general parlance..
