Women varsity students in Swabi protest for demands
SWABI: The students of the Women University Swabi have been staging protest for the second consecutive day to urge the university administration to accept their demands.
The protest was staged on campus on Monday and it continued on Tuesday as well. The protesting students wanted to meet the vice-chancellor, but that could not happen. It was the first time that the students have staged the pro est for acceptance of their demands. Some insiders said that someone in the university may have instigated the students to stage the protest. The students gathered on the campus early in the morning to start the protest by holding placards which were inscribed with slogans against the administration of the university. The campus echoed with the slogans of the students. Talking to reporters, the protesting girls said the university administration had started firing PhD scholars and it was hiring non-PhD teaching staff who could not teach them properly. The students said they were being pressured to remain silent or else their degrees would be cancelled. However, the protesters said that they were not afraid of raising voice for their rights. However, the officials of the university said that no-one was expelled without solid reasons.
