BAHAWALPUR: The 69th Independence Day was celebrated in Bahawalpur division with great national fervour and zeal in a colourful way on Friday.
The day dawned with special prayers in mosques about the prosperity and welfare of the country.
The biggest national flag hoisting ceremony was held in Dring Stadium Bahawalpur where commissioner Bahawalpur division Captain (retd) Saqib Zafar hoisted the flag.
Male and female students sang national songs on the occasion.
In Bahawalnagar the I-Day main function was held at TMA lawn where DCO Syed Iqbal Haider hoisted the national flag.
In Rahim Yar Khan the I-Day flag hoisting ceremony was performed by DCO Rahim Yar Khan Captain (retd) Tariq Iqbal in the DCO office lawn amid a big gathering of socio-political figures.
In Chitian the I-Day flag hoisting ceremony was held in TMA lawn.
At the district police lines a grand parade was held to pay tributes to martyrs. Bahawalpur DPO Sarfraz Falki was the chief guest on the occasion
In Quaid-e-Azam Solar Energy Park special protection unit (SPU) contingent presented guard of honour to mark the I-Day.
