The Kasur crime
The Kasur child abuse incident is shameful, barbaric and embarrassing. Sexual abuse in Pakistan becomes a source of guilt for the one who faces it. Our society has somehow made the act that tarnishes the personality of a victim for the rest of his or her life an unspeakable crime.

The Kasur child abuse incident is shameful, barbaric and embarrassing. Sexual abuse in Pakistan becomes a source of guilt for the one who faces it. Our society has somehow made the act that tarnishes the personality of a victim for the rest of his or her life an unspeakable crime. The criminals in Kasur not only abused kids they also taped the abuse to blackmail the oppressed children’s families. Nothing can be more sickening than this.
The values we are imbibed about dignity and respect need to be thoroughly introspected – no matter how hard the backlash for progressing towards a new social contract be. Unless we accept and re-evaluate the basis of our values this will keep happening. Imagine the victims. They cannot even come forward and talk this out openly. And we know why. After the heat of the moment they will become the subject of ridicule forever. The adjectives of ‘honour’, ‘dignity’ and ‘respect’ should be reinterpreted. Social values are defined for human life and its perpetuity, and certainly a human being is not made to be sacrificed at the altar of such notions. The barbarity of the mafia in Kasur (reported) and elsewhere (so far not reported) should not be tolerated and the accused should be brought to justice for destroying the lives of so many innocent children.
