The Huawei Technologies Pakistan held pre-departure ceremony of ‘Seeds for the Future’ programme for students from Pakistani universities here.
The 11 students, who were selected from different Pakistani colleges and universities will leave for China for 14-day visit starting today (August 15).
Madam Bao Jiqing, the wife of Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, Tahir Mushtaq, member of IT Ministry and UET vice chancellor were present on the occasion.
While addressing the ceremony Tahir Mushtaq appreciated the students and said this is the new start of their life as they would get chance to interact with highly professionals working in Huawei is a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions investment company.
He said this is the first step from private sector to send students for two-week programme as their Corporate Social Responsibility. He also lauded the Huawei company for initiating such programme for Pakistani youth.
Madam Bao Jiqing in her speech said that China always ready to help Pakistan at any level. In this programme students will get the chance travel around China.
During their stay they will explore Chinese culture, people’s lifestyle, values and will attend lectures on information and communications technology (ICT). Besides sightseeing the delegation will also visit Beijing Language and Culture University, Beijing and Huawei Headquarters in Shenzhen from August 15to 29.
‘Seeds for the future’ programme is the biggest CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programme of Huawei Technologies.
The programme is sought to develop local ICT talents, enhance knowledge transfers, and improve people's understanding of interest in the ICT industry. The programme was firstly launched in Thailand in 2008, until now it has extended to more tnan40 countries and has covered 10,000 pulse students all over the world.
