PESHAWAR: The Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (ETEA) and Khyber Medical University (KMU) on Wednesday conducted entrance test for the medical and dental colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday in Peshawar, Abbottabad, Swat and Dera Ismail Khan simultaneously.
Though some of the candidates and their parents complained of inadequate sitting arrangements, the test was conducted in peaceful environment.
A total of 22,919 candidates, including 13,654 boy and 9,265 girl candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh appeared in the entrance test at the five centres.
The entry test started at 9am and concluded at 12 noon.
It was simultaneously held at the University of Peshawar’s cricket ground opposite Khyber Medical College (KMC), Peshawar, Islamia Collegiate School ground Peshawar, Ayub Medical College (AMC) Abbottabad, Grassy Ground in Mingora, Swat and University Wensum College in Dera Ismail Khan.
The ETEA organised the entry test while KMU provided logistics and administrative arrangements for the registration of the test.
The results of the test will be announced on Thursday (August 13) and would be available on KMU website www.kmu.edu.pk as well as on ETEA website www.etea.edu.pk in addition to that the result would also be communicated to the entire candidates individually via SMS on their cellphone through specially prepared software by Information Technology (IT) section of KMU.
The Islamia Collegiate School ground accommodated 6,400 candidates while 6,624 took the test at the UoP’s cricket ground.
Similarly, 3,826 students appeared in the test at the Ayub Medical College (AMC) in Abbottabad, 3,860 at the Grassy Ground in Saidu Sharif, Swat, and 2,209 at the University Wensum College Dera Ismail Khan centre.
Talking to reporters, KMU Vice-Chancellor Dr Hafizullah expressed satisfaction at the arrangements for the test.
He praised the role of ETEA, KMU and University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar staff, police, civil administration, authorities of UoP and Islamia Collegiate School, parents and especially candidates for their cooperation and support in conducting of the test.
UET Vice-Chancellor Imtiaz Hussain Gilani, secretary health Mushtaq Jadoon and other officials were also present on the occasion.
Some of the parents and candidates complained of inadequate arrangements and those who came in their own cars suffered hardships due to poor traffic management in Peshawar.
Most of the candidates were dropped away from their respective centres and had to walk on foot to reach the centres due to poor traffic management.
