The bodies of a newly wed couple were found in the bushes at Hassan Punhwar Goth near New Subzi Mandi on Thursday. 30-year-old Shahid Khan and his wife Bilquees, 25, were brutally stabbed and axed to death.
One of the passersby saw the bodies and informed the Super Highway Industrial Area police who shifted the bodies to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
According to the police, a trunk was found near the bodies having the Nikah Nama, according to which the couple got married on May 7 this year.
Police said that the both the deceased used to live in Hassan Hazara Goth in Bin Qasim Town. They fell in love, ran away from their homes and got married. According to police it was a case of honour killing.
Six killed in robberies
Six people, including a Muttahida Qaumi Movement worker, were killed in separate robbery incidents in the city on Thursday.
Shahid Ali, 45, was standing outside his North Karachi Sector 11/F residence when two armed robbers riding a motorcycle came and ordered him on a gun point to hand over all the valuables and cash. When he resisted the armed man fired at Shahid and fled the scene.
Shahid’s family members immediately informed the police, who shifted the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem. According to the New Karachi Industrial Area police, the deceased was an employee of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) and also an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
Two bandits riding a motorcycle intercepted a motorcyclist Amir, 30, at Cantt Bazar near Drigh Road and tried to rob him of cash and his motorcycle. Whe he offered some resistance the armed man opened fire at him and escaped, leaving him in a pool of blood.
In a similar in Korangi Sector 50/C two armed men riding a motorcycle intercepted Shani, 25, and ordered him to hand over cash and his motorcycle. Over his resistance they fire at him and fled the scene leaving him dead.
Four armed bandits barged into the residence of Muzamil, 40, in Korangi Sector 48/F took all residents hostage and started stealing valuables.
When Muzzamil and his brother-in-law Ismail showed some resistance the armed men opened fire at them, killing Muzamail while Ismail got injured.
Reacting to the situation the other family members attacked the bandits, snatched a gun from one of them and opened fire. One of the bandits received bullet injuries while others managed to flee along with the booty leaving their injured accomplice.
On information the area police reached the spot and arrested the injured bandit, Majeed.
Meanwhile, Shahrukh, 30, and 65-year-old egg seller Muhammad Murad were also killed by armed bandits in North Karachi and Orangi Town respectively when they offered resistance to them.

Two alleged robbers were gunned down in encounter with Ferozabad police at Tariq Road on Thursday.
Two armed men on a motorcycle were engaged in looting passengers of vehicles passing through Tariq Road. One of the victims informed the police about his ordeal, over which the police van reached the identified spot.
The armed bandits seeing the police opened fire at them and tried to escape. A brief ensuing gun battle resulted in killing of both the bandits. Police also recovered two TT pistols, the looted amount, gold ornaments and a motorcycle from the possession of unidentified bandits aged between 22-24 years.
