Besides resolving the basic grievances of the citizens, the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) is focussing its full attention to improve health system and provide its all out facilities to the people particularly living in cantonment limits.
During a talk, the Chief Executive Officer, RCB, Fahim Zafar, believed that there is shortage of hospital, which is only one in the entire cantonment for the civil class, failing to cater their demands to satisfaction level. Similarly, there exist dispensaries in some wards while people of remaining wards particularly lower class are deprived of this kind of facility.
There are private health clinics where the people fail to afford good medical treatment which is also expensive and beyond their limits to pay.
In this context, the RCB has given a serious thought to improve the health system in cantonment falling in the limits of this civic body.
To materialise the plan into reality, the RCB has earmarked sufficient funds in the Annual Development Plan for the year 2015-16 for launching of health projects.
As per programme, RCB would work on expansion of Cantonment General Hospital. He said that at present the space of Gynae Ward in this health institution has become small to meet the demand of female patients. Similarly, the number of beds placed at this ward has also become insufficient to cater to the needs of patients.
Due to small number of beds, two female patients are accommodated in one bed. Sensing this situation, RCB has decided to increase the number of beds and expand the space of Gynae Ward.
Giving details, he said
the hall in the hospital would also be converted into Gynae Ward for which Rs8 million have been allocated in the budget.
RCB would also establish Children Ward in the hospital and for this purpose an amount of Rs4 million has been sanctioned in the budget.
The matter doesn't end over here because besides improving the scope of CGH, RCB has decided to extend health facilities to the people at the wards level.
The CEO said that at present there are dispensaries of RCB in some wards while a few lack this facility.
Now the civic body during the current fiscal year would establish two new dispensaries under the ADB one
each at Dhoke Chakara while another would be in Ahmedabad.
The estimated cost of this two dispensaries values over Rs11 million. For setting up dispensary at Dhoke Chakara, land selection would be made measuring one canal.
While the dispensary in Ahmedabad would be constructed in the land measuring 8 marla. These health projects including CGH and dispensaries would be completed by the end of fiscal year 2016.
Similarly, a good working medical staff of professional level would be deputed in dispensaries for providing good medical treatment to the patients on nominal fee charges, Fahim Zafar said.
